Shady Grove Unveils Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Mosaic

Shady Grove students were in awe at the unveiling of their new Martin Luther King Jr. honorary mosaic, featuring the handprint of every student (700+) and an original painting of Dr. King by SGE Assistant Principal Mrs. Kennedy’s father. The schoolwide project began in the weeks leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students read about Dr. King and participated in lessons about his commitment to serving his community. Students then “made their mark” with a handprint on a tile meticulously arranged on the wall by Principal Bialka.

Seniors Thank our Wiss Nation Difference Makers

As part of our Class of 2025 celebrations, more than 115 seniors wrote a personal letter to a WSD employee who they identified as a “Difference Maker” - someone who positively impacted their academic journey and/or personal life. We are pleased to feature 10 seniors reading their letter to their Difference Maker.

We Are Shady: PBIS Parody

This September, every staff member at Shady Grove participated in a parody song and dance to teach students about PBIS. The parody of Beyonce's "Texas Hold 'Em" taught students about being respectful, responsible, and safe in the classroom, hallways, bathroom, playground, and cafeteria. Thanks to Mrs. Cheryl Broderick, SGE teacher, for writing the lyrics and Ms. Karah Barrist, former SGE music teacher, for the vocals.
