Welcome to the Home and School Association at Shady Grove Elementary!
The Home and School Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization composed of all interested parents and guardians of Shady Grove Elementary. The HSA plans, organizes, and funds many exciting activities at Shady Grove. Our organization works closely with the principal, faculty and staff to provide enriching programs for students.
Together, we work to strengthen our school community by supporting students and teachers, planning special programs and events, funding building improvements, and creating opportunities for families to connect.

Membership Information
The best way to get involved and to always know what’s going on at Shady Grove is to become a Home & School Association member. Whether you're volunteering at an event, attending a meeting, reading our newsletter, or cheering on your child, you're an important part of what makes Shady Grove such a special place. There are many rewarding ways to get involved in what we do!
Sign Up for our Membership Toolkit directory to become a member. We hope that you will consider becoming an active participant in our association by attending bi-monthly evening meetings and volunteering as you are able during your child’s time here. Please keep your eye out for information on opportunities to get involved during the school year!

2026-2027 HSA General Meeting Dates
General HSA meetings are in the Shady Grove Elementary Library (unless otherwise noted on the school calendar) at 7 p.m. on the following dates:
- September 24, 2026 (Room parents at 6:30 p.m.)
- November 19, 2026
- January 21, 2027
- March 18, 2027
- May 13, 2027 (Executive Board Election Day)
Volunteer Opportunities at SGE
Whether you have a little time to give, or a lot, there are many fun and rewarding ways to volunteer at our school. For those with flexible schedules we have opportunities during the school day such as Field Day, the Book Fair, the Holiday Shop, the Learning Garden, or by being a room parent!
We also need volunteers for evening and weekend events like Harvest Fest, the Shady Grove Showdown, and International Night. Even if you cannot physically attend any of these events, there is so much behind-the-scenes volunteer work that can be done from behind the computer or on the telephone.
Support SGE Through Your Purchases
Each year the HSA spends about $50,000 on the above-mentioned activities. While our organization is free to join, we do ask for contributions to help support our efforts. We suggest an amount of $20 per student for annual dues, but all levels of support are appreciated.
You can also support our organization by attending our fundraising events, or participating in the programs below.
Box Tops Collections
Send in Box Tops with your child. Teachers have collection boxes in their classrooms.
Blue Bell Pizza
Mention SGE when you place your Blue Bell Pizza order, and 10% will be donated back to the school; eat-in, take out & delivery (available to all Shady Grove households)

Wissahickon Teachers and Staff: Apply for a Learning Grant
Driven by a common mission to support ongoing educational opportunities for Wissahickon students, WEOF and our Home and School Associations use a new Common Grant Application to streamline the grant application and approval process. Grants may be submitted by Wissahickon administrators, teachers, counselors, coaches and class/activity sponsors.

How to Become a Volunteer
