Mr. James Kelly became principal of Shady Grove Elementary in September 2025. Mr. Kelly began his teaching career at Stony Creek Elementary, where he spent four years as a 4th grade teacher. He then moved to Wissahickon Middle School to teach 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies, an experience that allowed him to work closely with students during a pivotal stage in their education. Following his time in the classroom, he served as an instructional coach in the curriculum office, supporting teachers with best practices and curriculum development. He then served as an assistant principal at Wissahickon High School for five years.

"I look forward to continuing the rich traditions of Shady Grove Elementary School. My passion has always been creating an environment where students feel safe to take risks, supported through challenges, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential,” Mr. Kelly said.

Mrs. Kennedy had 26 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher prior to joining Shady Grove in 2024. She taught 3 years in the Philadelphia School District, followed by 23 years in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District. "I am a dedicated champion for students. My experiences as a teacher shapes my leadership lens, as I strive to create impactful learning experiences for every student attending Shady Grove Elementary," she said.
